5 Top Spots for Watching Sunsets in Sierra Leone
1. Tokeh Beach
Picture this: white sandy shores, crystal-clear waters, an island visible on the horizon, and a relaxed, secluded vibe, with some of the best beach resorts in the country. Tokeh Beach is a prime spot to watch the sunset! Here in the office we love it, and our families and friends do too.
Top tip – stay overnight and get a beachfront room to get a first-row view of one of the best sunsets you’ll ever see.
2. River No.2 Beach
River No.2 often mentioned as one of the most picturesque beaches near Freetown. It’s located near a river estuary forming a lagoon, which becomes especially beautiful at sunset when it turns into a giant mirror.
We also recommend staying a bit longer, for a meal on the beach or even an overnight stay at the guesthouse. Both are owned by the local community and provide employment to women and youth.
3. Leicester Peak/Signal Hill
4. Tiwai Island
We always recommend visitors to get out of the city and spend some time in one of Sierra Leone’s national parks. Sunset is the perfect time for wildlife spotting – we suggest taking a sunset cruise around Tiwai Island — you might to see one of 11 primate species, birds, and maybe even the elusive pygmy hippos!
