Brief Overview of
the national tourist board of sierra leone
The National Tourist Board of Sierra Leone is a Semi-Autonomous Body enacted by a Tourism Development Act 1990.
As articulated in Part-11 Section 9 of the Act, the general mandate of NTB is to develop
- All aspects of the tourist industry in Sierra Leone.
- Market and promote Sierra Leone as a unique and attractive travel destination.
Additionally, it is also charged with the following responsibilities
- Implementation of Government tourism policies.
- Developing and promoting sustainable and responsible tourism.
- Developing and executing appropriate marketing and promotion campaign strategies.
- Facilitating private investment in the tourism industry.
- Registration, licensing and classification of all tourist establishments.
- Product development.
Mission
To develop and promote quality tourism through the implementation of Government’s policies and to encourage active participation of the private sector with a view to enhance socio-economic development and poverty reduction.
