The wonderful beaches of Sierra Leone are not just for relaxing! All along our coasts, there are a variety of activities to enjoy – surfing at Bureh beach, diving at Sussex beach and all over the Banana Islands, but what about kayaking?There are many beaches perfect to go kayaking all over Sierra Leone – here we’ve selected our favourites!
1. 1. River No. 2 Beach
River No. 2 Beach is a stunning stretch of coastline located just outside of Freetown, the capital city of Sierra Leone. This picturesque beach is known for its lagoon with calm and clear waters, making it ideal for kayaking, especially at sunset.
Visitors can rent kayaks from local vendors and paddle along the tranquil waters of the lagoon, before heading back to the beach for a sunset drink or dinner.
2. Tokeh Beach
Tokeh Beach is just a short drive from the capital city of Freetown. This idyllic stretch of coastline is known for its pristine white sand and turquoise waters, and for being the location of two of the most beautiful beach hotels in the country.
The azure waters and calm sea make Tokeh the perfect spot to set off for paddling adventures. The resorts can assist with kayak rental and information – a fun route is kayaking all the way to River No. 2, just a short distance away.
3. Kent Beach
Kent Beach is a beautiful beach located near the southern tip of the Freetown Peninsula. The beach is wide and sandy, but nearby you’ll find cliffs and rock formations, fun to explore on a kayak.
